The NovaPod 2.0 at InfusaLounge in Allen, Texas. Full-body photobiomodulation combining six evidence-based modalities in a single 30-minute session.

The NovaPod 2.0 at InfusaLounge in Allen, TX combines six evidence-based wellness modalities into a single 30-minute full-body session: red light at 660nm (cellular and skin support), near-infrared at 850nm (deeper muscle and joint penetration), infrared heat (circulation and gentle detoxification), PEMF (cellular energy and nervous system regulation), terahertz therapy (cellular communication support), and supplemental oxygen. The six modalities work synergistically rather than additively. Sessions are designed by Triny Nguyen, APRN under medical oversight from Phyllis J. Gee, MD, FACOG, with patient screening for contraindications including pregnancy, implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, and active photosensitivity.

If you’ve shopped for red light therapy in the last few years, you’ve probably stared at the same baffling array of options. Wall-mounted panels. Full-body towers. Face masks that look like something out of a sci-fi film. Handheld wands the size of a flashlight. The wavelengths vary. The wattages vary. The claims vary even more.

The NovaPod 2.0 at InfusaLounge takes a different approach to the problem. Instead of betting on one wavelength or one mechanism, it stacks six evidence-based modalities into a single 30-minute session. Here’s what each of those does individually, why combining them matters, and how to know whether the NovaPod fits your situation.

The Six Modalities, Explained

Each of the six modalities in the NovaPod works through a different biological mechanism. Delivered together in the same session, the effects compound rather than simply add.

Red light (660nm wavelength) penetrates the skin and reaches mitochondria, stimulating ATP production at the cellular level. It’s the single most-studied wavelength in photobiomodulation research, with documented benefits for skin tone, collagen, mood, and general recovery. A meta-analysis published in Lasers in Surgery and Medicine confirmed photobiomodulation’s effects on tissue healing and pain reduction.

Near-infrared (850nm wavelength) penetrates deeper than red light — into muscle, joint, and connective tissue. This is the modality that does the heaviest lifting for patients dealing with chronic joint pain and deeper muscular recovery needs.

Infrared heat raises core body temperature gently, supporting circulation, gentle detoxification, and HPA-axis recovery similar to a far-infrared sauna.

PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) delivers low-frequency magnetic pulses that support cellular energy, bone density, and nervous system regulation. PEMF has been the subject of extensive medical research and has FDA clearance for several specific medical applications, including certain bone-healing and depression indications.

Terahertz therapy targets molecular bond resonance, supporting cellular communication and energy transfer. It’s the newest and least familiar of the six modalities, but the research base supporting it has been growing rapidly over the past several years.

Supplemental oxygen delivers a higher concentration of oxygen during the session, supporting the cellular work being done by all the other modalities.

Six modalities. Thirty minutes. One pod.

What Patients Actually Feel

You don’t need to memorize the wavelengths to know whether it works — the experience speaks for itself. The session is comfortable, and many patients fall asleep. You lie down on the pod surface, the lid closes (your head stays outside), and the therapies run on a programmed cycle. Most patients find it deeply relaxing.

Within the same day, most patients report reduced joint stiffness, improved mood and mental clarity, better sleep that night, and a general sense of recovery and lightness. After a series of sessions — typically 6 to 12 over 4 to 6 weeks — the benefits compound. Skin firms and tone evens out. Chronic joint and back discomfort tends to fade. Athletic recovery accelerates. Sleep quality improves long-term, and stress tolerance climbs back to where it used to be.

Who the NovaPod 2.0 Is For

The NovaPod is the option we most often recommend for athletes seeking recovery, patients dealing with chronic joint or back discomfort, people dealing with stress or burnout, those optimizing skin health, patients with sleep difficulties, and anyone working through a broader functional medicine program.

For athletes and active patients, the value is faster recovery between training sessions, reduced soreness, and better sleep on rest days. For patients with chronic joint or back discomfort, the near-infrared and PEMF combination reaches into joint capsules and supports connective tissue, often with noticeable relief after the first few sessions.

Patients dealing with stress, anxiety, or burnout benefit from the combination of infrared heat, red light, and PEMF — a stack that supports nervous system regulation in a way that few other therapies can match in 30 minutes. Patients optimizing for skin health and anti-aging get full-body coverage of red light at evidence-based wavelengths, which is more efficient than skin-targeted panels.

For patients with sleep difficulties, red light and PEMF in the late afternoon or early evening often translate to deeper sleep that night. And for patients in functional medicine programs, the NovaPod amplifies the effects of nearly every other therapy we offer, which is why our clients frequently stack it with IV nutrient therapy on the same visit.

What the NovaPod Is Not

A word of honesty, because honesty matters here. The NovaPod is not a weight loss device. While the infrared heat and PEMF components can support metabolic health in general ways, anyone selling red light therapy as a primary weight loss tool is overselling what the research actually supports.

It’s also not a single-session cure. Most photobiomodulation effects show diminishing returns after 24 to 48 hours. The benefit of red light and PEMF comes from regular, consistent use — typically two to three times a week during a loading phase, then less frequently for maintenance. If you do one session and never come back, you’ll feel great that day and then revert to baseline within a few days. That’s the nature of the therapy, not a knock on it.

The Most Common Stack: NovaPod + IV Hydration

The most-requested combination in our lounge is the NovaPod followed by a hydration IV in the same visit, totaling about 90 minutes in the clinic. Patients describe leaving feeling like they had a recovery weekend compressed into a single afternoon.

We particularly recommend this combination before or after travel, during training peaks for athletes, after acute illness, as a monthly maintenance reset, and after demanding work stretches. The IV supplies the substrates — amino acids, B vitamins, electrolytes, glutathione — that the cellular machinery the NovaPod just stimulated needs to actually do the work. For NAD+ specifically, see our companion article on why IV NAD+ outperforms oral NMN.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a NovaPod session?

30 minutes inside the pod, plus a few minutes for setup. Plan for 40 minutes total in the clinic. Add about 60 minutes if you’re also doing a hydration IV in the same visit.

How often should I use the NovaPod?

For active goals (pain, recovery, skin), 2 to 3 sessions per week during a 4 to 6 week loading phase, then weekly maintenance. For wellness maintenance only, weekly or biweekly is usually enough. Triny will recommend a cadence based on what you’re working on.

Is the NovaPod safe for sensitive skin?

Yes — the wavelengths are non-burning and well-tolerated. Patients with active photosensitivity from medications (certain antibiotics, retinoids, and others) should check with Triny before starting. Dr. Gee provides medical oversight on protocols for patients with complex medical histories.

Will I sweat during the session?

Mildly. The infrared heat is gentle compared to a traditional sauna. Some patients sweat, others do not. Either way, the heat is comfortable rather than intense.

Can I use the NovaPod if I’m pregnant or have an implanted medical device?

PEMF is generally avoided during pregnancy and with implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and neurostimulators. We screen at consultation, and if PEMF is contraindicated, Triny will design an alternative plan.

Can I use the NovaPod every day?

You can, though most patients see equivalent benefit at 2 to 3 times per week. Daily use is not harmful, but it isn’t necessary for most goals. Save the session time for the days when you actually need the recovery.

Can I combine the NovaPod with other InfusaLounge therapies?

Yes. The NovaPod combines particularly well with IV hydration and ozone therapy. Triny will help you design a stack that addresses what you’re actually working on without overdoing any single modality.

Ready to Try It?

Most patients are surprised at the difference between a wall-mounted red light panel and a full-body pod stacking six modalities. The first session is the easiest way to feel the difference.
